MBOX2 vs MPC

Hello people, i have a question regarding recording through the mbox2 into protools.

So i have this dope chill beat in my mpc4000. It sounds warm and really balanced.
Next I want to record this fine beat into protools, so i connect the output of the 4K to the input of the mbox 2.

Open up protools, check the levels and..... gone is the warm sound. It suddenly sounds dull and flat, not like the mix
i've been working on for a few day's on the mpc.

So basically: Is the mbox2 a crap piece of gear tot record beats into a DAW? I've done it for years now but i've had enough.
It's always the same. Beat out of MC = DOPE, beat through the mbox into protools = DULL, FLAT.
Then you'll have to recreate the dopeness in protools, but it will never sound the same.

Someone, please give me advice! Is it the AD/DA converter on the mbox?

I just plug the lines out(of my mpc) to a converter to mini jack then put it straight to my line in in my computer.... the sound remains really really good almost no difference..

What type of soundcard do you use?

I love the recording and editing of vocals/raps in Protools, but I feel like I need a new way to export my productions...

I don't use a soundcard, just use my mpc => mixer => computer basicly, since the sound sounds really good over here Im still not thinkin of buying a soundcard.

guess that means mbox's converters are doo doo kaka

Your "line in" is a soundcard.

And since it's line in, it might just be your regular ole motherboard standard/default soundcard.

yea sorry what I was tryin to say was that i dont use an other sound card then my computer sound card..

are you playing it at the same volume from your computer as you were in the mpc?
the human ear is easily tricked. when it hears 2 identical sounds being played at different volumes, it thinks the louder one sounds better

resample the beat internally on your mpc, and record it through your mbox. normalize and upload both and let us hear.

does that particular mbox have a digital in? maybe using that would deter the loss of quality also...

What kind of cords are you using? This can make a big difference. If everything is sounding good inside the MPC, try the digital outs instead.

I use the balanced XLR cables to record the output in the mbox (protools)
My guess is also that the AD/DA converters on the mbox are garbage..

I use the MPC4000 so i´ll have to buy the output board for digital recordings. Guess i´ll have to save some money for it
