mpc and sp303 recording problem

Is it possible to setup the Sp303 only start recording when i hit a pad on the mpc? i dont like the start/stop feature on the sp303 and i always seem to screw the start and stop times up when trying it that way, so shouldnt there be an easier way?

i would like to record one shots and sequences that start and stop on the sp303 once recorded, the same way they do when they're on the mpc.

how do i start the recording at the EXACT time i want to inside the sp 303?

assuming you mean you want to play a sound in the mpc and have the sp record it when it plays, then yes this is possible. Its also in the manual.

Just press "Cancel" and "REC" at the same the, number -0- appears in the value screen and you adjust the threshold you wish to start recording at with the ctrl 3 knob.

man..i didnt see that anywhere in the 303 manual. i tried it and nothing happened.

in the sp303 manual, it says to set the masters transmit channel to 1...where is there a transmit channel on the mpc? all it shows is whether it is the slave or master and the receive channel all or 1-16.....but there is the problem, the mpc isnt going to be receiving, its the master. the sp303 will be receiving

am i suppose to manually go to every single pad on the mpc and change it from a drum track to a midi track?

also, i have audio outs from mpc going into the 303, then im using headphones on the 303. i have a single midi cable going out of the mpc to midi in on the 303

ok, see I didn't know you were asking if you could trigger the 303 to record via midi. No you can't.

In the mpc you don't need to change every pad from drum track to midi track, you only need to change the program from drum to midi. You will however need to re-assign the mpc pads to corrsponde with the 303 pads because the MPC pads are GM midi, the 303 are chromatic midi.

Can't you just set up the auto-sampling on the 303 to the lowest threshold?

Thats what I was trying to suggest in my first response but apparently I think he means trigger via midi

either try the auto sampling method OR do what i do

hit record on the 303 and then play the sequence on the mpc, with loop off

then your tracks will be on the 303 pads, and then you'll just have to manually trim the start points/end points

OR

record your tracks in the 303, apply fx or whatever your wanting to do, then record BACK into the mpc and then trim your sequences on the mpc

yeah, PRE sample into the 303, either by sampling "thru" it, or just rough sample into it, pick and effect what you like.

I use 303's and 404's as "scratchpads".

then when I got a plan, it goes to the MP
