since the mpc1k forum was no help PLEASE HELP

i got my motif es6 to my mpc

it works fine

but now i wanna add in a module ( roland xv5050 )


i cant figure out how to get to get the mpc to play the xv .... let alone get the motif to play the xv




I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A TUTORIAL FOR " HOOKING UP A KEYBOARD AND MODULE TO MPC " or atleast a FAQ


please help me...... im sure you 2kxl users are smarter than the 1k users

i got the mpc to play the xv5050 and i got the motif to play the xv5050 ( but the motifs voice has to be turned down or i hear both )

but i cant get the mpc to record anything i play

and it only plays when i have it on midi a not b

Do a search, there are several topics out there.

Masters usually control slave devices and your module would be one, so one thing is that it will need to accept a MIDI in from a controller, whether it be the MPC or your keyboard or both.

When I first hooked everything up, the begining of the manual is a good REFERENCE tool to start with for "hooking up devices". Don't get frustrated, slow down a bit and read. peace and keep bangin

my post above is delayed then, well, you should turn LOCAL off on the Motif, refer to the manual as I don't know how to do that. Also OPEN window on your midi tracks and be sure the track is set to MIDI and not drum, and then once the window is open hit the keys and make sure you know what channel your signal is routed to.

Don't sell your module. This is really basic midi stuff which should be in the MPC's manual, but I know it can be confusing if you are new to midi.

I'm guessing the motif is a keyboard(?!?!) & your MPC1000 has two midi ins & midi outs like my 2000. ( I've never actually used a 1000...)

Connect a midi cable from an OUT on the keyboard to an IN on the MPC. Connect another midi cable from the OUT of the MPC to the IN of the module.
Set a track in an MPC sequence to be MIDI, not Drum.
Scroll from OFF to the midi channel you want.
Move your cursor on one point & you can select midi output A or B.

You should be able to record the midi notes you play on the keyboard in the same way you would record hitting pads on the MPC.

okay ... it record midi b 1 but i have to turn the volume off the motif es


does this mean i still will only get 16 total channels of midi ?


i thought i would have 16 from the motif and 16 from the 5050 now

Hi Misterrock. Please refrain from mudslinging when you get frustrated. First of all, I have found that the people on all the forums are ready and willing to help people here. Try to remember that "the other people in the mpc1k forum" frequent this forum and others also. Please try to be patient as sometime questions are not understood do to details being left out by the person asking and/or the person does not understand the answer and/or the person answering does not realize the level of understanding the person asking has. I have also noticed that really basic questions do not get replied to due to the fact that people are more willing to help someone if they know that this person is making some effort to find the basic answers themselves. I beleive this is why they made a special newbies section here. So chill and have fun learning this stuff as it will make your music creating more enjoyable. Peace

EXACTLY....I use the 1k forum everyday..I was actually at my mans house(hehas the 1k,a keyboard and a module and we were trynna figga out how he had it hooked up before I read all that shit talking and said **** it why should I help this cat out if he can't even be patient enough to wait for the answer!
