midi routing problems with cubase vsts + mpc 1000 (jjos)

I have cubase 5 synced to my mpc with mpc as the master. I have it setup do use cubase as a sound module for the various vsts i have. Everything works dandy until I try to add a second vst track.

For the life of me, I can't get the two vsts tracks to play their separate parts. Both vsts will play back the same notes. I know i'm supposed to do something with the input transformer in cubase. (a filter?)

If somebody could walk me through the settings I need in both cubase and jjos that would be amazing. I have tinkered with this for hours and i just can't get these midi channels sorted out to work properly. =/

maybe the midi-tracks/vst-tracks in cubase is set to recieve midi on all midi-channels(1-16)?

yup make sure your MPC outputs different midi-channels on different tracks and Cubase receives those midi-channels on its vst-tracks

Thanks for the quick responses. For each new midi track i have been changing the midi channel within cubase. first track is set on channel 1, second track channel 2 etc I have been hitting f11 within cubase so the vsts get automatically assigned to a midi channel.

In the mpc, on the main screen, first midi track i have midi set to "1a" (i have a midi cable running into the A OUT of my mpc from my interface") second midi track in my mpc is 2a etc etc

when i hit pad mode + pad 9 and go to my midi options i have the following settings:

active track receive channel-all
soft thru- as track
sequence change by program change-off
pad to internal sound-on

what is this "PC" on the main mpc screen? do i need to change that as well?

No, PC = Program Change. If set MPC will transmit Program Change message to selected channel when track plays so that you could assign/change internal or external programs etc..
