A midi keyboard for mpc 1000

Hi

Iam looking for a midikeyboard for my mpc 1000, any suggestions?
I've heard that the mpc is not going to be able to play the sounds from the keyboard and only will send the sequence from the keyboard and then you add your sounds to the sequence yourself. Just like if you make a sequence and then changes program while it's playing on the mpc 1000. I hope you understand what I mean.

Anyway a mpc 2500 owner told me this so maybe he has mixed it up with the 2500?

i think i understand what you mean.
a midi only keyboard produces only midi info and no sounds. so, you assign some samples to pads on the 1000. then you trigger the sounds with the keyboard, instead of the pads. a midi only keyboard is just an alternative to using the pads.

if you get a synth with midi, it will both make sounds and send midi. so, you play a melody on the synth that is recorded as midi on the 1000. then hit play on the 1000 and the midi will play whichever sound/s are selected on the synth.

as such, i reckon its better to buy an older, inexpensive synth rather than a midi only k.board. plenty of great synths that sell for less than $200.

as to which k.board - the question has been asked here many times. search the forums and you'll see lot of recommendations.

im buying an Axiom 25 Midi Keyboard, and i'll be triggering sounds from my sound modules, then recording the data into my Mpc 1000.

i dont like the idea of playing basslines, piano sounds, melody-synth type stuff, using the pads on the Mpc, so thats why im buying a MIDI keyboard to play that type of stuff back.


depends on if you want or NEED a keyboard with knobs and faders and/or a keyboard with 25, 49 or 61 keys, etc.

figure out what you NEED exactly, then search around zzounds or guitar center, etc. until you find one within your price range.

I have some questions about what you wrote m8.

So if i get a synth with midi the mpc will be able to use the sound which is used on the synth? So the synth send more than just midi info and send the sounds straight to the mpc?
