Latency when triggering s950 from MPC5k

I got an s950 the other day, and I'm sitting here screwing around with it and I make a drum program. When I start sequencing it on my mpc5k, there is noticable latency. I'm just going midi out on the 5k to midi in on the s950, nothing too fancy. Is there a setting for this or something I don't know? Ive set the *ontime and vcurve to 1 and the capture/recovery time to 0ms. I don't even know if that does anything, that was just my uninformed guess.

I've got the latency issue pretty much figured out, but I'm also running out of polyphany at just 4 notes instead of 8. Before I pull my whole desk out to re-patch all the wires, would this just be because I've only got the mix outs hooked up? I know the individual outs are monophonic, so I was thinking maybe the mix outs were limited too?

maybe your samples got some "air" before the sound start

check the assigned outputs of every sample/keygroup

Are you sure you really connected the mix out? Seem to me that you connected the L or R out (cause these two outs have a polyphony of 4 AFAIK. Didn't use tese outs so I can be wrong here)

Another quick thing though. I was making some kits and all that, saving to disk just fine. I accidently stuck in a 2SHD disk and tried to format it and it failed. I caught it, put in a different 2HD disk and now it won't format any disks at all, nor will it read the ones I already made. Any ideas?

I figure I should post this incase anyone else runs into this. What I did was try to format a Memorex 2SHD floppy in my s950. It failed, so I took it out and tried to format a regular 2HD floppy and it failed too. After trying to change settings and trying (and failing) to format different floppies for like 4 hours, I finally stuck the original 2SHD floppy in the s950, tried to format it, and it failed again. I then, without restarting or anything, recorded a sample (I named it VONE, I Don't think it matters), created a program with it, then formatted a regular 2HD floppy with it, which worked. I saved the sample and program to the floppy, then formatted a bunch of disks just in case I ran into something like this again. The disks I'd made before the 2SHD fiasco worked fine (despite having tried to format them a bunch of times, too) and everything seems to be fine now. I'm not even going to attempt to repeat all this and figure exactly what caused the drive to start working again, but as close as I can tell it was reattempting to format the 2SHD. Stay away from those disks. I have like 30 of them (bought them off craigslist with a whole bunch of other stuff, all the 2HDs work fine). I couldn't get my s2800 or my Roland s770 to read/write/format them. I'm getting an mpc60 this weekend, and I won't be trying it in there either just in case I do something irreversible.
