Hooking up a microphone to my 2000xl

I don't have a mic or preamp yet but im planning to get them very soon so im trying to get a feel for how the setup would be:


microphone to preamp

preamp to computer

mpc to computer via preamp?



and also if im recording into the daw using the microphone how would I get the recorded material onto my mpc's pads?



I suck at explaining things Im know sorry!

Mic -> audio interface -> computer and record vocals into your daw program.

mpc -> audio interface and record beats into your daw.

Audio interface, mine has pre-amps on it, so do many others.
