Using mpc but going software route.. need help

Sooooooo... been shopping for a keyboard to complete my set up of turntable, mpc2kxl, mac computer protools digi 002. I think I instead of spending $1500-2000 I'd get a midi keyboard and some software.. anybody wanna clue me in on how to go about this and implementing it in my current workflow?

I've been using logic as a sound module. I've done the same with reason. mpc-samples.com has some dope tutorial manuals giving details to make it happen smoothly.

yeah grab a keyboard controller for sure, those are great to have in a studio... just make sure it has a midi output port and not just the USB only... that way you can use it with your hardware or future hardware as well.

Thanks, I'll check the link when I get home.. I wonder how'd I go about making music in logic or using it as a sound module with protools.. maybe the answer is in the links?

I use Kontakt and a bunch of sound libraries as my general purpose sound module. I wouldn't get another DAW package like Logic just for its instruments (too cumbersome), but I'll admit its quite a package for the price.

save your money on a host by getting a cheap, powerful, and well-supported one (wouldn't ya know, i forgot the name of one) and spend it on Trillian instead
Kontakt + libraries if you want realistic sounds
and mostly freeware synths.

Mithinks Reaper by Cockos is tha one.

Goes to how how much I know.. I've had pro tools for years through a muhfugga who owed me money for helping him out on his so called music venture.. all I've ever used it for was basic recording(still stuck on 6.4) Was never into creating on the computer, always loved the hands on approach. Time to upgrade and get me some new plug ins..

Though it won't put Logic in Pro Tools, Mainstage and clever routing will get those Logic stock instruments anywhere you want them without the bulk. It's not ideal and there are better solutions altogether but I thought I would mention it since it hadn't been said yet.
