connecting mpc 2000xl to mbox

hi guys, i have decided to hook up my mpc 2000xl to my computer. at the minute i have a basic set up:
1 x mpc 2000xl with 8 outputs
1 x technics 1210 turntable
1 x vestax dj mixer
1 x mackie vlz1402 mixing desk

the question i ask is, do i connect my mpc directly to the mbox or do i connect the mackie vlz1402 to the mbox? (by the way, i have not purchased the mbox yet as i need to check a few things out first)

i would connect the mpc's outs to the mackies inputs and when your ready to record with the mbox, connect the mackies main outs into the mbox.

how many inputs does the mbox have?
you can either do the above, hook the master out of the mix to two inputs on the mbox,

or what might give you more flexibility later would be to run however many 8 outs into the mixer, use the sends on the back of the mackie to take each of those signals direct into the mbox. this will record each track into the computer for re-mixing later.

of course you will be forced to use only as many outs as you have ins on the mbox (and i think the mackie only has 6 direct outs).

but the other option (2 track stereo) is just as good...you can use the sends hooked up to the other inputs on the mbox as aux tracks if you want.

thanks for the help guys. i think i know what you guys are saying. i'll run the 8 outs from the mpc to the mackie, then the main outs from the mackie to the 2 inputs of the mbox, this will give me my audio. then i will connect the mpc to mbox with midi for the data (sequences etc...)

then transfer each track i have recorded by hitting "solo" on each track and transfering the audio to the computer. does this give the best control for mixing and adding effects?

yes, that will work too.

the benefit of using the direct outs per-track on the mackie is you can do it all in one pass, and you don't have to worry about levels being wrong.

but soloing each track is another way to do it, and totally fine.
