Tried posting this on the production forum but no joy, I'm thinking of getting something like a novation bassstation to rung alongside my mpc2k and wondered if anyone had some tips? Shall I get a keyboard version or rack etc? I'm also looking at a synth lite which has all sorts (oscillation etc) but this again has no keyboard. I just wanna add some effects, bass and perhaps some new noises to the mix for not too much cash, any ideas peeps?.... :D

Well, unless you've got a midi keyboard it will be difficult playing bass lines on a module. It is possible but very awkward with the MPC's pads. I'd look for something with a bit more variety of sounds than the Novation Bassstation. You should be able to pick up a Yamaha AN1x pretty cheaply. Not as instantly tweakable as the Korg MS2000 but a great sound source with a decent sized keyboard.

Cheers for the replies, been searching on google for info. Korg and Alesis both look good for the price. The Novation K-station looks sort of similar for a for a £100 or less so might look at that. Seen the Alesis Andromeda which looks the b******s! for 2 grand though.... out my league man. I'm really into oscillated trippy sounds, a bit like boards of canada style to go with the beats so these all look good. :D
