Old skool gear lust, or new school gear trust? asr 10 vs MPC

Every so often I get caught up in the hype. Can anyone with experience with both machines shine a light on the sound design capabilities of the asr 10 vs the mpc 4000. The more I use it, the more I like the 4000 for fx, filter modulation, synthesis, etc. Is the asr really a mythical creature worth adding to the arse-an-all? Any thoughts on the rack mount version?
