monitors, do i really need two of them?

So here's the deal...
I only use headphones when I'm creating beats and sometimes cheap computer speakers when my ears get tired.
I'm now thinking of buying monitors to use parallell to the headphones.

But as the cheap ass I am (monitors are hell expensive) I was thinking...do I really need two of them? I mean, I do all my beats in mono. So why is the reason I need two? Wouldn't I be better of investing in one really good speaker than two half as good, if all i do is in mono?

Am I right? :hmmm:

I guess it's up to you.. I would've never thought of just using a single Monitor speaker :lol:
Your MPC does have a stereo output though..

tapedeck: great, don't care too much if it's not as loud, well it depends on how low that is, but i think my neighbours would appreciate it. :)

-niN: :-D why is this so funny!? maybe it's a stupid question, i don't know, i'm confused. but, it's like you get brainwashed on how a studio should look like in all articles and stuff and then when you start thinking yourself, they laugh at you. haha...
yeah, sure my sampler got stereo outputs, but not necessarily the sampling time.

Even if all your samples are in mono you can still create a stereo mix by panning them out in your sampler - this doesn't eat into your sample time dude. :)

yeah, if you only make tracks in mono i guess thats right up your alley, but panning and stuff like that will all translate to a stereo final mix.

...and never kill bumble bees.

rarely do myself while the I have tracks still in the MPC but sometimes it helps separate sounds a bit before they're tracked out and mixed. not really a reason to buy a second monitor if you're happy working mono though.
