Triton with the 1k

I'm trying to track out sounds from the triton on my 1k (jjos). Got midi hooked up and audio going through a mixer. Set the triton to external and the 1k to master with sync in:off. I can record the triton sounds if i use the pads but not if i use the keys... Help would be much appreciated.

It's hooked up rite.. can midi ports short out?? nothing looks broken but i had it working before. Can't call it.

cant short out, maybe cable gone bad ?...can you test out midi output from the triton with a different device to make sure it's sending out midi ?

just made a beat on reason using the triton with an m-audio uno. Then made a beat on the triton using the pads on the 1k... ins and outs seem legit.
Both midi ports on the 1k work but still cant record midi using the keys. tried rebooting....nothing.
Musta tried every possible midi config so it must be the cables. I leave my gear on for months sometimes and had it workin until last week i turned everything off.

Alright.. got myself a coffee, pulled everything apart and got it working again. To track out triton sounds on the 1k "the easy way" midi cables need to be in mpc ports 1 and A. Triton set to external with local control on. MPC set to master MTC, MMC:on with sync in:off. Went ahead and got new midi cables not sure if that was the prob but don't care. Good look.
Just to put down my two cents.. if you set MPC to master a and b you can hook up the 2 and B ports to your computer with a usb to midi and use virtual instruments on your keyboard too by switching local control off. turn local control back on and you get the triton sounds. (switch midi channel on mpc as needed).
If you have protools or another daw just arm an audio track and press play on the mpc to bounce it.
