100$ headphone tragedy

my lil 4 year old cousin came over and was spining around in my studio chair ans snapped the cord to a pair of ath-m40fs headphones the ones i use in the booth!!!!! is there a way to fix em? i tried twisting the cords together and electric tape....... didnt work. is it possible to fix them?
have anyone had a simialr expirence?

AT designed most of their high-end headphones to have user replacible parts...check to see if you can replace the neccessary parts.

$100 for a pair of headphones...


...that's insanity...I go thru about 2 pair a year...between people coming over, sitting on them, stepping on them...


...shit can get expensive, and you can get a good pair for much cheaper...


...plus it don't hurt so bad when something happens to them

trust me, these headphones are worth the cost....its not insanity if u ever use headphones to mix anything and care about a good mix :wink:

please enlighten me...why would you mix on headphones as opposed to studio monitors?

it just gives you a different perspective on the beat you know? i like to go back and forth between cans and speakers (im still learning) and my ish sound better since i incorporated the cans. My basslines used to bump way too much and now they sit in the mix better. Its also better to f*ck with panning rockin the cans cause you can differentiate between left and right better

yeah like they said :wink: personally i always do my final mix with my monitors but i usually dont even play beats out loud until that time. phones let u hear it up close and personal like D said. but straight up, using my ath-m40fs has my mixes pretty much there when its time for the final mix
