I personally think dude(Madlib) is lying about using the 303 to throw the dogs off the scent of what he's really using...

nah hes just tryin to prove skills is skills. If u can make a hot beat u can rock anything. It dont matter if its fruity loops or a 303 or a sk-1

He uses other stuff too, but most of his released stuff is all 303, from the horses mouth.

He is right about onething, what he is talking about is the contact that lets you know when a hit is a hit. If you hit the pads on a SP 1200, you know when it hits because there is a click at the end of travel, same with using keyboards or other hard pad machines. The MPC is padded, so you don't get the tactile feedback that you'd get from the SP 1200 or the 303, which has a definite throw and click when it hits bottom. It is nice, but I still like the MPC better.

Nahh he uses the 303... I don't doubt that... It's just his preference... I used the 505 and loved it, but the sequencer was horrible... I like the MPC... Madlib don't... I ain't gonna drop what I got just to be on Madlib's d!ck... MPC is my girl...

Madlib uses a lot of gear, When I asked him if he still uses the SP he said yeah but that stuff isn't released though, his released stuff is mostly 303. Which of course can be a reference to the instruments he plays and samples (lotta his rhodes playing on Madvillain).

I don't doubt it either, in an interview he said he uses the 303, SP 1200, MPC4000, MPC 3000, plus the credits on YNQ list a 2k.

Madlib dont seem to me like the kinda person to sell out, or sign an endorsement shit. But i bet he's gettin roland so much money right now. Ive heard more people talkin about how cool it is in the last couple months then when it first came out.
