Not much, just working a lot. Tell E I said what's up. Does he still have the same number? I need to save some more sounds for my 60 befre I can jam with him and the rest.

I recently copped a used arturia spark for 100 bucks and I got the coupon to get Arturia V-Collection 3 for 200. So now I am in drum machine and synth zen for 300 bucks!

The step sequencing on the spark is fun to play with the live mpc style drumming. The 808s, 909s , linndrum, and other machines will get you writing patterns way past bedtime.

What made you unsure about it?

I heard and read that it was a phrase sampler, that threw me off the scent, but it's ok. I was just looking/browsing.

I owned an octatrack got it for $900...so that sale price doesn't seem great to me. I sold mine for $800 a few months later. I was not impressed.
Someone needs to give the people what we really need....new sound building tools.
Build a unit that is analog with many voices at least 20, the ability to parameter lock like the Octatrack, the ability to easily change or switch the voltage(so that you can turn it into a bass or a full synth, allow for DCO or an off switch for full analog and lots of knobs layed out for every function. Multiple outs like the TR909, an analog filter, roland style effects like the ones in the v-synth, a simple arpeggiator like the Juno6 but twothat can be used together, and 61 keys, 16 XOXOX pads, and like the fantoms keypads in a group like the MPC's...and last but not least it needs to be L shaped like a moog voyager, so that you are not bending over.
I dream,
Cheers,
Ian

PS "I liked bits and pieces of the Octatrack but the best money I have spent was on my used MPC4000 ($500)...easy, simple, powerful, fun."

That's what I heard on synthtopia too. They did say it will not supersede any box they are selling now.

i'll go for ians dream machine...

when is that shipping....?

seems like elektrons next baby will be a fx monster....realtime audio manipulation full on....

but octatrack is missing some features....
the physical output section is for djs only.....the realtime sampling is dj style, too...
nothing to seriously perform with for a musician...
and so on...
there's always something missing in octatracks features....

first time i heard about it i thought it's gonna be a killer...but it's not...

i got another dream machine....a mpc jjos1000 with black pads and a black blue screen AND octratracks ability to stream playbackaudio in sync to the grid from CARD!!!!

I hear the Octatrack is not so good at Hip Hop production and there were many members that copped it but sold it weeks later. For electronica dub step I hear its great though.

Does anyone on the forum use the machinedrum UW for hiphop? Does the 12 bit sound like an mpc60 , sp-1200, emax, eps (13bit).

I've always wanted to cop a machinedrum UW, but if it sounds like an EPS or MPC60, then I might pass.

I dunno what to think about octatrack. I don't seem to "get it". Has anyone come across a vid or tut that would make more sense of its capabilities than the official elektron videos?

Interview with JSRokit ("Yoshimi" was his name here i think) describing how he uses Elektron gear in his Hip Hop;

Brought an octatrack and sold it.

Sampling tools are great but the os and workflow is messy.

Not really great for hip hop, sure you can do it but no velocity with the trigs and buggy os.
