I have a E Mac Computer... NOW What???

So, I'm trying to build a project studio, I still don't have a Track board(No mackie or Allen and Heath) but I recently emac. So now I have an Emac to with my Turntables , MPC 3000, Ensoniq EPS 16+ and Akai s950,so My next question is... NOW WHAT!!!??!?.ByWhat, I mean in terms of Recording software or Hardware(Do I need to invest in MOTU Stuff?)???? Help me

get some nice wave editng software for your computer and make music. . ..

you can always have more, but you can make great music with less.

yuo will need a firewire audio interface (or a USB one, but they are generally only available in 2 in 2 out configurations due to the limited bandwidth.) Recommended are Motu and RME, but on the whole, your budget will decide for you. I use Motut 828Mk2, and as you don't have a mixer, it may suit you very well.


You will also need a programme to record, such as Logic or Ableton Live.

Digidesign also have packages to lure you...

First thing to look at is your budget though. How much are you looking to spend?

definitely need some recording software. i suggest if ur budget is low (as most of us) magix music studio 2005 you can pick this up at ur local best buy for around 75 bucks. if you have a nice or decent budget i would suggest going with a much more complex brand of software, ie protools, cubase, or sonar. but magix will suffice until u are ready for something new.

you will definitely also need an audio interface of some sort. again if u are on a limited budget, i would go with something from m-audio audiophile lineup. or if u have 500 bucks to spend get the m-box from digidesign, this will also include pro tools 6 plus an a$$load of software like abbleton live and reason adapted.

Like Artec said, it's about your budget. If you're on the cheap, you can find some ways to cut corners and still get stuff done. If you got cheez that can take you in a different direction.

Anyway, as a Pro Tools user, I would recommend the MBox, but there are other choices. You can get a used Digi001 (That's my baby) or maybe even better, a used Audiomedia III card for between $100 to $200 and still use PTLE 6.4.

There are a few other Mac friendly additions that you may wanna check, MPCPGMMaker, Audacity and a few others. Check at www.osxaudio for a list of Mac plug-ins and programs.

remember guys - the mans got a emac - gotta be firewire or usb(not best option) coz no expansion slots etc... and no mixer board yet, so your choice is either a 2 in 2 out with a mixer, or as many ins and outs as yo uneed for your equipment (my guess is a minimum of 12 with the equipment list you give - but thats a lot to ask of a sound card.) seen lots of tips for going with the behringer ad converter (8 ins via adat) used with a sound "card" that can accept adat plus analogue ins. Hit up how much cash you can spend, and thing's 'll be clearer...

Yup. If it's Digidesign, it's either the Digi002/002R or MBox.

And that MOTU unit is sweet.
Friend of mine has one.
Sounds good and DP is nice software.
