Wave editor that reads Akai sample start offset (MPC1k or S5

I've tried a bunch of software to see if there's anything out there that can read and/or write the sample start offset used by many Akai samplers.

I'm interested in this for wav files created by MPC1000 and Akai S5000.
I don't believe these two read each others start offset points though...

I've found none.
Are there no editors that read the Akai start offset parameter.
Most programs read loop points so I find it a bit strange.

Any ideas?

If i remember correctly, Chicken System's Translator program can do this.

I downloaded the Free version to try out but it doesn't even read wave-files from MPC1000 properly. At least not created under JJ OS 2XL.

No waveform is shown. There's actually a start value shown in the inspector but it's way out of range and the end point shown is 2 which is way too small.

Loop points seems to be ok though.

Pretty sure Soundforge used to recognise the mpc start points, but I haven't used that in years so don't know if that's still the case.

But if it was years ago were you using Soundforge on MPC1000 samples?
I believe older formats of Akai samples have more support in legacy software.

I searched the Sound forge manuals for version 10 (and 1.0 Mac) but the words "Akai" or "MPC" are not mentioned. But there could be support anyway of course.

is this why whenever i sample something into my 1k (with jjos2xl) it starts at 00225 or something like that?

can that shit be turned off? i always have to go back and truncate it afterwards.

Yes that's sample start offset.
As long as you stay on the MPC it's no problem but it's not transferable to other platforms as far as I know. So yes, in that case the samples needs to be trimmed destructively.

are you saying if i had a snare sound with that offset on the mpc, then dragged it into my computer editor, the offset would be gone and the snare sound would start when it actually hits, or would it have the offset if i didnt destructively chop it in the mpc first?

The offset is gone in all editors I'm using.
Make an extreme setting and see what happens in your editor. If it shows the offset I'm very interested in learning which software you are using.
