why does my cassette tape sound like its flanging

when i record something, it sounds like my cassette tape has a flanger/chorus effect on it almost, is it just because the tape in question was probably rolled up too long?

it doesnt happen on my other tapes.

i suppose this tape is broken?

just the one tape, i was wondering if there was anything to do to fix it, im glad its not the whole machine, the cleaning usually just rolls the highs off after it gets really dirty i guess.

well it puts more strain on the tape also...

sometimes longer tapes are made from thinner tape... those tend to stretch easier and get worn out easier. it starts to flutter... and sometimes it will flutter more the further into the tape you get.
