Any Venom owners in this?

I just bought an M audio Venom. Should get it some time next week. I was just wondering how to update the operating system once it arives. I don't plan on using it with the computer that much, but I'm willing to hook it up to the pc to uptade the OS. The information on this is very vague.
The information that I've been able to find seems to say that the latest pc editor will update the hardware OS, but it doesn't seem to really tell how to do this.
Kind of feel guilty for buying myself a synth at Christmas, but I did it anyway...

I like the Venom to some degree. But she puts out a very digital, electronic sound in my opinion. When people say she's dirty, it's not analog dirty to my ears. More aggressive crunchy electronic.

Here's the thing. You. Cannot. Program. Patches. Without. A. PC. Seriously. If you thing you might want to dig in and tweak a patch, you need the PC editor.

I agree. And I didn't mean to discourage you. It's a fun synth and VERY under-rated. If you're willing to use the PC to create patches, you'll have sounds to work with that not many other people will recognize.

That's exactly what I did. Couldn't pass it up. I figured that even if I dont like the synth I can use it to play instrument patches from my Mp1k. A true MIDI controller, as apose to a usb controller. I might dig into the patches a few times, depends on how much of a pain it is.. Thanks for the kind words boys.

Got my venome the other day. Haven't had to much time to get into it, but my first impressions are quite good overall. First off, it's built much better than it looks. It has a very solid feel to it, and the keys don't feel cheap at all to me. Very springy. It's also very light and compact. At first I thought I might have to get another stand, but its just so easy to put the thing in my lap.
The sound isn't bad. I was really expecting it to be overly digital, which it can be, but it's actually quite capable of more classic synth type sounds. There is quite a bit of noise, but I'm not sure yet if that's just some of the patches. Also, I've notice a bit of glitchy sounds. Almost like note robbing, or even as if you changed the patch when you havent. Again though, this may just be on a few patches.
My biggest issue is that at times i'll turn it on and the sound isn't activated. All the lights come on and I can change the patches, but I get no sound. I just have to turn it on and of till I hear it sort of connect and then it'll work fine. It doesn't come in and out. It either works once you turn it on or it doesn't.
I'm hoping that I have an old operating system, and upgrading it will fix some of this stuff.
I can actually live with all of this though. For $200 bucks I'm very happy.
