So basically ive been lately watching a lot of Nosaj Thing and Baths live stuff... they both use MPDs with ableton, therefore they have their own setups organized in their own specific ways... My question is if any of you believe the Kaos Pad3 plus my MPC1000 with JJOS would be able of creating the same level of soundmangling as Live plus and mpd? I know it wont be the same, as I guess ableton is superior in many aspects, but for live use, im looking more into the grain and beatmangling sort of effects, just to do glitches and stuff live with individual tracks... I guess i should organize my MPC setting each track type to each one of the outputs and then route that to a console with the KaosPad in an aux so I could be sending the effects independently to each track... but my point is if I will be able of having such amount of "destruction" power in my fingers with the KP and MPC... I know the best thing would be to go and buy an mpd and blah blah blah, but i just dont want to gig with a laptop it kind of freaks me out plus, as everybody knows, is less sexy....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5c5azMz3qc here you can see more or less what im talking about... i kind of have my setup organize in such way, and by the way, i love this guy

Thanks in advance!

Sorry but you can not compare a MPC to ableton. You will never be able to do that kind of stuff on a MPC . Save up your money and get a Mac book and get abelton it blows all JJOS all MPCs out off the water. I sold my MPC for a APC an I've never been more satisfied. A kp3 can't side chain FX.

Yeah, I know the MPC cannot beat ableton in terms of effects, thats why my question was about the KaossPad3... I wont use it that much while producing, I just want a nice replacement for SugarBytes Effectrix for live situations, I know I wont be able of having even a quarter of the control I would have in ableton, but I also know I wont use more than that quarter while performing live... I am looking to get some grainshiftting and stuttering effects to use in my individual tracks while gigging... Is, in this specifc scenario, the KaosPad the best choice?

As I said, Im dont plan on selling my mpc and starting using software, as that would change all my workflow, and bla bla bla... i dont want to start from scratch after 6 years, and i dont want to go around clubs with a 1500E laptop

Oh, by the way! for side chaining I use a small compressor (fmr rnc), and I usually sidechain everything while producing in the studio and then sample the results in my MPC, so as I say, im really looking into the glitch and stutter effects. Im just looking for a replacement for sugarbytes effectrix VST as I love using it in the studio but yet cannot recreate it while performing... Ive never used a kaospad before, therefore I dont really know how these effects work... Im also looking into some filtersweeps with an XY pad, that seems pretty cool, although I dont know how good those filters will be
