Mackie onyx 1620i question

Hello I'm new here, great forum for tips & tricks for the mpc!

I'n the owner off a MPC 5000, and I tryed different ways to track out.

Allready used de adat, but I'm not very happy with the sound that comes out.

At this moment I have the 8 outputs to a mackie CFX 16 mixer, I mix my beats in the MPC & the mixer and because the CFX only has a stereo out I track the stereo in cubase, but the problem sometimes is that when I record vocals sometimes I need to adjust some levels to make the mix sound great.

Long story but my question is: Is it possible on the mackie onyx 1620i to record all the 8 inputs at the same time in cubase tru firewire? I allready have searched on google allot and called a few shops to ask about it, but there lots of different story's about the onyx 1620i on the web, some say you can only record the main out tru firewire and the other website says that you can multitrack all the channels.

Yes.

The 1620i will only provide a stereo out FROM the software, you can track TO the software no problem though.

The bigger, more expensive 1640i will give you discreete channels both FROM and TO, but its a fair bit more expensive.

Short answer; yes, you can do what you are asking.

But what i ment, i can multitrack? so simply said, kick on 1 snare on 2 and so on... at the same time?

so when i hit play in my mpc with everything connected to the mixer it will automatically put the kick at 1 and snare at track 2?

I think your answer was yes to this question but to be sure I ask again!
