Ok, my studio is coming along but I need some suggestions...

here's my setup...

Mackie 24 track 8-bus recording mixer
M-Audio BX5 monitors
1 Alesis ADAT XT-20
Mpc-2000 w/o 8-outs
Studio projects b-1 condensor
Stanton str8-80 tt
Stanton SA-1 mixer
fostex mr-8 digital 8 track (for cheap mixing down, i used to use it for demos)

now here's what i'm planning on getting in the next 2 days...

the mpc 8-out card
1 more alesis adat (for a total of 16 tracks for recording so far)

and here's whats on deck for the future...

RNC compressor
a few different mics
maybe an alesis masterlink

does this sound like a good plan, what else am i missing?

man, you ain't missin' nuthin, except making hot tracks. You got all you need, really. If you got sources to get sounds from you straight.

the tracks are there...i just want to get them recorded with the best possible sound

A masterlink would definitly be a welcome addition. If you have a computer it is redundant, but very useful. I have had mive almost 2 years, and love it.

Also I would higly recomend a subwoofer.

200 bucks for 8 tracks cant be beat.

ADATS are bargain gear now.

but if you check in the homerecording.com forum in the alesis section they have a topic that discusses online places to buy tape...all are cheaper than store bought ones

hey, more on the production side...the only thing id get is some sort of "bass module" for bass tones....looks like you do alot of sampling, so you probably dont need a synth...but it would be nice to create some sub basses that you could sample. I find that when i sample, the only thing thats sometimes hard for me to find are good basses: like if you want to interpolate a bass line...or if filtering doesnt work.

maybe like a korg ms2000?

or even a rompler like the mophatt rack....its got lots of basses, and some sounds you may use.

on the plus side, good bass can make for good track....if all you got are sampled drums, sub bass, and a few stabs you can make some hot shit! ya know?
