whattup peeps.

I need some help. Im doing some tracking for mixdown inside CoolEdit.

here's my setup:

2000xl, full memory upgrade, 8outs and SPDIF
PC: 1.5 GHzCPU, 256 MB Ram
sound card: Audigy 2 ZS Platinum
software used for multitracking: CoolEdit Pro 2.0

Im trying to use the SPDIF output of the MPC to track into CoolEdit. The Soundcard I have has a SPDIF in connect. within the soundcard settings, I chose "SPDIF IN" as the recording source, hooked up all the cables, and midi synced CoolEdit with the MPC. When I hit play on the MPC, CoolEdit starts recording in sync, but NOTHING COMES OUT OF THE SPDIF, and so CoolEdit records nothing but silence.

Any ideas?

i think you need to connect outputs from the mpc to the soundcard, not sure but i think the only thing going thru theSPDIF is data.

try going to the mixer section of your mpc and there may be a switch there to send out SPDIF signal,
i have the same sett up but i have yet to record in to my PC. my problem is i also have a 8 track hd recorder. i just use CEP for editing.

spdif stands for sony/philips digital interface. it is simply a digital audio signal traveling over your standard rca cable.

so you should be sending audio data fine. this setup should work fine. you do not need to change anything inside the mpc as anything going out the main outs will go out spdif.

check all your cables. when you hit play is there anything coming out the mpc at all? cuz if so then it should be coming out spdif.
