Sup guys,

I'm having hard times with finding the right Audio Interface. I just bought the Presonus Audio Box (http://www.thomann.de/de/presonus_audiobox_usb.htm)

but I sent it back today. My problem is the following: I need like 3 inputs, but actually only 2, because the 3rd input is the computer and this works through the USB connection. The other 2 are for my MPC and for my turntable.

As you see the Audio Interface has 2 combo inputs on the front that even fit an XLR cable. But I just couldn't get stereo sound through the box. When i panned a Snare to the left it just got louder and when I panned it to the right I couldn't hear it anymore. When I skipped the Audiobox the stereo sound worked just fine. So I guess that the 2 inputs on the front are Mono inputs.

So I am thinking about getting this Audio interface: http://www.thomann.de/de/focusrite_scarlett_2i4.htm

Hooking my MPC and the Interface up with a cable like this:

So my question is: When i use that cable and just put the one connector for example in the right front connector on the box: Will I receive stereo sound?

I would be thankful for every reply.

Box audio interfaces the presonus and focusrite do the same thing.
I think it was a misunderstanding on your part (if if fact the interface was working correctly).

The audio cable you pictured will go from mpc headphone jack to interface to front ports, left/right LINE in.

The Interface didn't work anyway (only heard cracks sometimes and had to reinstall the driver just so)... I would prefer to connect my mpc with the stereo out connectors. So am I supposed to put the cable for the left canal in the left input and the other cable from the right output to the right input in the interface? That would be not so good, because then I need another 2 inputs to be able to hook up my turntable to the interface. Am I right?

1. The cable is wrong for channel to channel connection.
The red/white side is correct. Get a cable like that but with red/white on both ends.

2. The interface doesn't have enough input channels to hook up both mpc and turntables simultaneously. Find another interface.

3. Interface you find will need phono input capability unless your tt's already are capable of line level ouput.

When researching pay attention to the capabilities of the gear, what cables will be needed to connect everything also.

Whether the interface breaks out single channels into a computer daw or just outputs a summed l/r of all inputs, depending on what you need.

What gear you have and the possible several ways it can connect to the interface your researching.

Without going to deep into it and sticking with basics these are the thing I see stopping you right now.

Is there 2 on the back, I can't read German and I didn't see a pic of the back.

Do the tt's output line level?

Wait, now I see pics of the first 2 interfaces, no line inputs on the back (unless I'm just missing the obvious here, it wouldn't be the first time.)

Both the presonus apnd focusrite above interfaces the op listed are 2in/4out.

Explain.

oh yeah sorry, i thought the one Lamp linked was the same one the op had.. :WTF: yeah you need a different interface if you want tt and mpc at the same time...

and i was assuming dude had his tt going into a dj mixer. if not, it needs to go thru a phono preamp before the interface...

You never said anything about you having a mixer.

Firstly, specify your whole setup next time, what gear, what cables, everything and don't leave out anything. That way we can help you and be more focused on what you might actually need or can possibly use.

Find another interface, I wouldn't choose the eie, you were sitting fine at presonus or focusrite.

Recap:

find another..

cable from mpc to interface front or back jacks

YES

audio interface with enough inputs to handle ALL your gear, mixer main out to interface back 3/4 and mpc to front 1/2 and done!

Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 fits that bill, or something simliar with same or better specs.

The plugin software that comes with the interface, I have used these plugs and they are fkn great. just saying.

The part of the specs that you seem to be interested in.

Finally Set up my focusrite Scarlett 18i6. Once I get to use it with my Set up, and get to know it better, I may be able to help you out.
Till then: understand Stereo/Mono -connections.. Do Some research.
As far as I understand, you need at least four inputs. Two for the MPC (remember, stereo!) and another two for the DJ Mixer. Also: if you want to Record more than two Tracks of Audio at once, make sure you have USB 2.0 (or FireWire of course)

I initially was looking at Focusrite and I've heard nothing but good things about them everywhere I've read.

Same here. Just plugged in an sm58 and my headphones to try Out the DSP mixer. And I must say, those preamps are awsome. Sounds Real silky smooth.

And that's all we ask for in life isn't it, nothing special just silky smooth shit in general.
