MPC--Motu---PC(cubase)

ive been debating for a while on how to go about recording my beats. mpc into stock PC sound card wasnt giving me the quality i wanted. I did some reasearch and decided on the MOTU 2408 mkII I/O with 324 pci card to record into a multitrack recorder(cubase) on my PC. Now my problem is how to work the motu into my setup. I want to have my MPC plugged into the 8 Ins of the MOTU and be able to record the tracks into Cubase. I am not sure on what settings i have to set up in cubase for it to recognize the motu. the motu is connected via firewire into the 324 pci card.I have no idea how to set this up any help id appreciate Thanks in advance

do your self a favor . If you use cubase sx -use the hammerfall dsp multiface ... all you could want with inputs and outputs and the converters are top noch for this... I read alot of post on other forums that the sound set up you refer to is more MAC friendly than it is pc friendly because the motu is touchy to the mother board you use on pc. beside the hammer fall migh be the same in price . If I where you I take back the MOTU and get the RME HAMMERFALL MULTIFACE/with pci card.. I allways see the MOTU for macs.

not true, used to use that same card on a pc and it worked fine.

you have to set cubase to see the motu. look in your cubase preferences or studio setup, i dont know what it is called cuz i never used cubase. but there should be some feature to setup the hardware interface. this is where you select the motu as your input device.

probably need to set up the motu as your main sound device in your system prefs too but i am not sure, i am not a pc guy. just used them in the past with this same card and it worked fine.

Motu drivers for pc are a lot better than they used to be, there's no reason to get an RME instead unless you have a very exotic motherboard (I use an RME myself though).

There's plenty of info in the Cubase help files on how to setup a new soundcard.
