Recording MPC into DAW--Assignable Outs or Stereo Out?

I've been tracking my MPC 1000 through its Stereo Outs lately, but tried out the assignable outs as well when tracking in.

Is there any difference from one to the other?

I think muting all but one track through stereo outs has been working alright, but I wonder if using the 12 or 34 of the assignable outs is better since it's more focused on a track rather than the whole output of the MPC.

Also do you track every track out in stereo?

I think tracking out sampled musical parts in stereo has to be necessary due to the harmonic content that could get lost, but it doesn't seem necessary to do that for drum kits and maybe even multisample parts that don't have a lot of stereo going on.

Your Main Outs is the hot signal and more stronger. The assignable outs although usable, is slightly less hot. You probably won't notice the difference at first, but spend a full 8 hours with it on and decipher for yourself, you'll notice the Main Outs get a hotter signal than the assignables.

Technically they are all the same. Same output impedance, same maximum output level, all unbalanced. The key difference is that the main volume knob controls only the headphone out and stereo outs, not the assignable outs. That would explain how the stereo outs sound hotter. The assignable outs volume is controlled by the master level found in the OS. The volume can be further adjusted in mixer mode.

Now that I think about it, it's kinda crappy that the headphone out is linked to the main stereo volume rather than having it's own control.
