recording to pro tools with midi interface

Hi!
I have a question for u cause i have an mpc 1000 with an m-box that comes with pro tools and I want to record my beats on the mpc1000 to pro tools, I bought a midi interface(1in 2outs) to sync the mpc1000 to pro tools. But how do I go about doing this.
Do i have to change settings on the mpc and pro tools If so what do i change, and do i record on midi tracks or audio tracks in pro tools.
I managed to sync the two but when i tried recording i just got a flat line going, therefore no sound was being recorded

Basically route the midi out of your MPC to the Midi in of your
midi interface. I dont know the protocol for the 1,000 in terms
of activating and assigning a midi channel you also have to
create a midi trk in pro-tools.

Basically do what ricochet said but create a audio track in pro tools....Thats how i do it...I have the mpc 4000 setup with the mbox synced together with the us122 tascam
