Howdy doody,

I'm about to be going to Thailand for about a month and a half or so this coming August. Been plotting how to make some music while I'm over there and I'm thinking about taking my iPad + MPC... just not too sure what interface I'll be getting at the moment.

This is going to be a hyper slim setup. MPC >> interface >> iPad (garageband).
I'm looking into the Apogee ONE. This newer model allows you to record up to two inputs at the same time - one via the XLR input and one via the 1/4" input.

I could run a 1/4" to XLR cable and a regular 1/4" out from the MPC stereo outs just to keep things simple.

Any words of advice about the interface and/or iPad recording in general? I have never really used it in that sense before, in fact I hardly touch the thing.

***edit: I'm an idiot and pretty much just repeated what you had already said about having to record 1/4" and xlr at the same time for stereo input on the ONE.

An apogee rep on gearslutz says:

"This approach might get you close enough for rock and roll, but if you're looking for a true stereo line-level Apogee converter, you'll want to get the Duet, which is actually designed specifically for this purpose."

Hope this helps!

Word. You're already spending the $$ on one apogee converter, might as well go all the way and get the duet. At least you'll have top notch sound....order from amazon and you can return it when you get back if you don't think you'll use it much when you return lol

not sure which part of the world you're from, or which part of thailand you're going too... but drastic changes in climate can affect sensitive electronic equipment...

it's so humid over there - my mac crashed out after bringing it from holland to central thailand.

depending on your MPC it may be something to think about... maybe just get the iMPC app? that'd be proper travelling light.

(all totally off topic there, sorry!)
