Macbook Pro Sound Interface advice (2015)

I finally got my linnstrument and am getting a quad core macbook pro 15.4 logic pro x.

What audio interface should I get for it? I will use my xstation for the meantime if the drivers support it. My needs are 2 ins,2 outs, and low noise. Are there any mac audio interfaces that have an RCA in with RIAA class A preamps? My multi outs needs and analogue sound needs are taken care of my ssl xdesk so I need not worry about that.

Max budget is 1500.

If you need only two inputs and outputs, there really isn't a much better recommendation than an Apogee Duet. There's no RCA inputs and no RIAA preamp, but you can buy a Cambridge Phono Pre with the money you saved on the interface.

Noise is non-existant on the Apogee Duet.

How is the latency like when playing virtual instruments on it? I looked at the RME babyface and that can go down to 14 sample buffers.

Ahh, i didn't realize you need Midi. There is no Midi on the Duet.

Let me know how you like it. I sold my Imac and will need a new interface at some point that'll run on windows. The babyface looks to be very good and is exactly what i need regarding inputs/outputs.

@jibber I decided to be a beta tester and got a UA Apollo Solo to put my thunderbolt port through it's paces. Less than 2ms of latency for realtime beat mashing sure sounds good to me. I got it used so I got it for 550 US out the door.

^was gonna mention the apollo twin duo, but dude sounded sold on the babyface. If I had to pick a portable solution, I would go with that.

RME or Audient, hands down. Solid drivers/stability + room to grow. The iD22 has send/return per channel before conversion... dope.

You will be happy with your RME though! You made the right move.

The RME Fireface UFX is dope and can record on all its in's without being connected to a computer.

IE: Say you have 8 outs on your MPC, plug a usb thumb drive into the UFX and direct record all the 8 outs to wav files!

Now THAT sounds dope! A setup without a computer at all (except for copying the wav file later from the USB-Stick), gonna check that out! Thanks!

Ohh well, had a look... 2'000 bucks is a little hefty... I just need two inputs basically. recording wavs to a USB Stick would have been nice tho!
