Hardware FX Units, used as Software FX sends?

I have FL Studio. I have an MPC 500 and MicroKorg keyboard. I'm looking into a hardware reverb/delay box (Behringer DR400) that i would like to have set up as a Send, inside FL Studio. I would like to make my beat in the MPC and record loops into FL Studio and apply kicks to Channel 1. snares on Channel 2 and so on for all the tracks within my beat. I would like to be able to adjust the send amount for each channel/track.

Example of this would be to find a reverb setting that I like on the DR400 and be able to apply for instance 75% of the reverb to my hats on Channel 3, while I'm only sending 10% to my snares on Channel 2, etc.

I'm using a reverb VST right now (Black Water Reverb) that I have setup on Send Channel #1 and I can go to each channel and adjust the amount of reverb for each channel.

What would I need and could I accomplish this, but instead of VST, use hardware FX unit?

maybe it would be possible to record your mpc track by track (since you have the 500) so you have each sound on it's own wav file... then each of those wav files you can have go into it's own insert channel... those channels at the bottom of the fx section you run to the output going to the delay unit...

so lets say kick is on insert 1, hats on insert 2, snare on 3, bass on 4, samples on 5.. the bottom right of each of those insert's fx sections make it go to outputs 1/2 or what ever the delay unit is connected to...


now.. try and see what happens if you select insert 1 on the mixer (click it so it's lit up) and then move the mouse to a free insert (maybe insert 11 to keep it simple) and click the little up arrow below the volume fader so it sends insert 1 to insert 11... and in that insert 11... it should say in (none) so drop down that menu and pick the inputs your delay is coming into the sound card from (inputs 3/4 probably)..

would that work? I have never tried doing this before....
