not gonna get a "bad ass vintage sound" from the FMR RNC.
does a good job of not coloring whatever you put in it, just transparent compression. Which might not be what you're looking for. the RNLA is similar, but more color-y, maybe worth a glance.

sciguy is right, RNLA is more of a "mojo" unit than the RNC. It is, like the name implies, a really nice compressor! Even stereo capable. But found it not to be that usable for the stereo sum.
But I also can't recomment the G-SSL enough... If you're into DIY stuff! Really easy to build, not expensive and it sounds just great!

i just remembered i have the G-SSL compressor boards sitting around the house somewhere....i need to fire up the soldering iron. i haven't built any gear for a couple of years now.
excuse me if this seems like a silly question...but does the SSL compressor also works well when not being used as a stereo bus compressor...that is, does it work well compressing say a mono kick drum?

Personus blue max smart compressor, check on e-bay, picked mines up couple years back, 45 bucks if remember right……

Almost forgot it's a half rack 8' wide, really small
