Quick Question on Multidisk recorders

I already asked about Sound Cards for computer, but are those Multihardisk Recorders good? I know most prefer software, even I do, but do they do the same as in you can master and mix down on them? And if so what ones are goof for at least 500-800 or less....

Since you already have a laptop, you'll probably be better of with a good soundcard. A top level soundcard will sound better than a harddiskrecorder.
On a laptop you can:
1. Actually read the letters on the screen without getting a migraine
2. Record as many tracks as you want, including miditracks.
3. Use plug-ins, so you'll never have to buy hardware efx again.
4. Use vst instruments so you'll never have to buy a synth/sampler again.

Harddiskrecorders are solid, but you can't do any of these things on them.
Software can take a while to master, hardware is typically much easier to use.
I like RME soundcards best.

second tht. i have the m- audio 410, and those cards are very much decent.

as for doing everthing on the computer, tht dont work for me. reason being is tht, i can not balance the two sides of my brain very well. i ca not balance sound with visual, one always over ride one, so for me draging with a mouse does not do it for me, so i will always go hardware, i werent like this, then i would go soft.

I have a laptop, but if I can find a cheap decent computer than I'll get that, I'm thinking of starting hardware and then converting when I get more money...thanks for the help.....I want to cop that M-Box or whatever for Pro tools but I read my lap top, HP Pavilion is not compatable...or it doesn't work on a lot of them
