Akai s950 sampling

what cable do i need for sampling?
and how come thier is no L and R for recoding in ?

You need to hook up a 1/4" jack cable in the mpc, the other side of the cable depends on the outputs of your source of samples off course.

And the reason why there is no L and R input is because it's mono. You can however buy a reversed cablesplitter or merger (can't explain it otherwise) that makes your left and right stereosignal into a single signal. I got this one at home:

I assume that you have Left and Right RCA Cables from the outputs of your turntable/record player. Does your turntable have line out or just phono? If you have line I think you can hook up your turntable directly into the s950. If you have phono you will have to go through an amplifier or a DJ mixer.
S950 has 1 rec input wich only allows you to sample in mono. You either plug your left or right Cable into the rec jack depending on what sounds best for the individual sample you wish to record. Like Christov wrote above you can get the Y adapter Cable if you want to get the whole sterio Picture from your sample, but I think it will compress the width/depth of the sample as the s950 is built for mono sampling. However, mono sampling is in my opinion better sounding that sterio sampling. And if you bought a s950 your probably going for that fat Dirty sound.

you record two samples, one at a time.. one from the left, one from the right... play them at the same time (after adjusting the start point to make sure they are aligned. Y cables are not the right thing to do.
