Is it worth getting a cheap drum machine?

I was wondering if it's worth getting a cheap drum machine as a MIDI controller to run into Cubase on the Atari ST? I currently have a MIDI keyboard and an S-1000, but I thought it might be a nice way to program drums until I can afford an MPC.

Or am I just wasting my time?

just buy the MPC Pads, its around $149 you don't need a cheap beat machine to do what your trying to do

or u can just use ur keyboard but nothing beats the feel of the pads

I would say......if you are considering teh mpc, and doubting other things....then wait for the mpc.

I dont think it would ever be a "bad" investment....as it can always be used.

i dont know if im the only one but i got the 1000 and i dont like the "feel" of the pads at all. i constantly use my oxygen 8 controller to control the pads.

i wish i could say i love them but i really dont......

yeah, the bigger mpc ones are better. the smaller ones are more like cushy buttons.......

yea they suck... i tried my friend s 2000xl for a min and they seemed better but still not absoultley amazing... the ones on the 1000 have this annoying circle in the middle of the pad and if u hit it wrong it plays messed up... i noticew with the xl it was more of a flat pad and it was about 10 times better
