-FX comes standard
-SCSI2
-Streaming fonction
-HD-IDE + sound bank

It looks tight, but i doubt if they will sell many.

quote: "Tired of inserting virtual samplers into your tracks only to see your Mac or PC grind to a halt with CPU overload?"

I've used virtual samplers for a while now, and none of them seem to use a lot of cpu. Some use a lot of RAM, but buying lots of memory in your pc is a lot cheaper than upgrading a sampler.

The Akai z8 was already $1500, and i doubt if this will be any cheaper. For 1500 you can buy a computer with a very good soundcard, and something like MOTU Machfive.

Nuting new xcept ZIP drive? Hu :? ?? Them have to sell it for a really good price  ... I saw a retailler's advertisement selling Z4/Z8 850euros ending october the 31th!
How do Akai think to sell it :? ?...

Some one might be passing this off as new, but the only "new" thing about it is the color. Akai has made the color of all their samplers the same blue color. This confused all the MPC4000 owners recently too. Actually the new MPC2000xl blue version is different from the old one. It has a smart media drive instead of the floppy.

Could you have the internal ZIP in the Z4/Z8 (like for the XL)? Did the Z8 comes straight with the 8 outputs? If yes Akai should have to stop releasing those "new" products
:? :?

Know you can have the ZIP drive as an option for the XL... is it possible for Z4/Z8 samplrz?
Now that Akai released the"new BL XL" :? ... with PC-Cards as standard instead of floppy, did cats would go for the internal ZIP drive?

Aw MAN... Akai should hire me (or anyone else on these boards) to help them re-arrange their range of samplers. I've got mad ideas for what their next MPC should be like, plus I'm SO tired of this "re-releasing-the-same-gear-with-new-colors" b u l l s h i t. I mean c'mon; we LOVE the akai gear we already got; so give us some proper next gen ish.

Colors. Zip drives. Whatever.

Guys, they still carry on with the "new" line! Look at the DS1000  !!!
Kinda ol' S1000 shell with CD-Drive, like the CD3000, but this times it goes to 192kHz... Something really new...

One thing that still strange: why are they back with hardware samplrz, and leave the soft research? Their soft version off of the Z8 was a damn good idea for my wallet!!
