adding a compounder to my settup , how ? which one?

now how do i add the compounder and is this a good one ? or can i get a comparable one for cheaper ?

Which Mackie do you have? I have the SR24-4 VLZ PRO, which has inserts on the subgroups. I've got the compounder on those inserts, so I can send any combination of tracks through it at the push of a button, plus I can mix the uncompressed signal with the compressed signal when I want to (the old Motown trick).

If yours doesn't have subgroup inserts, you can stil put it on a pair of subgroup outs and have it return on an FX return.

Oh and is it a good one? Dude, it will fatten up your beats so much it's scary. You won't want to live without it after you've used it. Just go easy on the "bass expand/huge" control - it's easy to over-use it.
