Can I use a Mackie Onyx as a stand alone mixer without a computer???
At least until I get a Computer???,or is for Computer use only???

mackie onyx mixers are ANALOGUE mixers with a firewire DIGITAL INTERFACE OPTION... the firewire option doesnt come with the mixer, it is a $400 upgrade...

so yea, unless you install the firewire interface, it is used as a regular analogue mixer... even after installing the firewire interface, it will still function as a regular analogue mixer... they are just giving you the option of having your digital audio interface built into your mixer instead of having a completely seperate audio interface...

you may want to look into it a bit deeper, there are probably some limitations to this type of interface... like for instance, someone said that the firewire outs are "pre-EQ" which probably means they are also "pre-fader"... but im not sure exactly... just do a bit of homework before you commit... make sure that the firewire option is for you and is conduscive to what you want to do... otherwise, the Onyx mixers look like great mixers in my rookie opinion... also look into the mackie 1604 vlz pro, that is a great mixer... then you would just have to get a third party or seperate audio interface to get your audio inside your computer.......
