DAW comparO - audiophiles – ableton vs fruity loops vs LOGIC

I have heard such things. I suspect your interface/headphones/monitors have a bigger effect than the actual DAW. They focused on compressors.

They focused on compressors. I cheat & use old Yamaha mixers for most of my EQ/compression before it hits my MPC.

It's not cheating to capture sculpted audio and make it sound the way you want for what you are putting together.

Heck... if you're filtering something through your own thoughts and preferences... whether it is using effects, picking samples, what have you... but you're in the process... then I dare to say it is almost definitely not cheating. I know some folks might frown at using loops, but if you're using them but adding your own stamp through chops, good effects, whatever... I'm still going to say you put in some work and made it your own.

I say “cheat” b/c its so simple/effective. I spend all day with ableton software mixer when my analog yamahas get me there in under an hour. If I was a real producer, I would value all the plugins/options . . . . .

I don’t know about DAW audio coloring. But I highly rec keeping a real mixer around.

The only software I really liked was the mixer page on the roland MV on an old VGA screen. I did virtually no mixing until I had the MV with the cheap sliders. The MPC live is way more powerful but the qlinks don’t do it for me. This is why I need to MIDI map my old APC40 so I have can get 8 real sliders. 8 sliders plus the 16 knobs should do it. I just haven’t had the time to setup the mixer template yet.

APC40 midi map ???
If any1 wants to do this, count me in for a donation. I imagine I can adjust your template to fit my needs faster than starting from scratch.
