? the best multitrack software on a budget ?

with all this amazing hardware to choose from I am left with the decision of what software to route it all to. logic express I thought, at only £200. no joy, it's only for mac (I own a PC). nuendo is mean to be sick but too expensive!, It now seems the only choice is 002 rack and PT. why no logic on PC?!

anyone in the same boat? what are your recommends?

PS. anyone know if adobe audition lets you multitrack and midi sync and all?

Audition will alow you to midi sync but unless I'm mistaken it's an audio only app meaning you can record all your audio tracks into it but you can't sequnce midi tracks with it.

You might wanna take a look at Sonar, if I wasn't using PT I'd definitely be using Sonar.

You sound like you have options Logic goes up to 5.0 or so on PC
I have Logic Platinum 4 for PC I also have Nuendo 2.0 and yes it
is very expensive so forget about Nuendo 3.0 Protools seems like
an obvious choice for you. As a matter of fact pm me.

Have you looked at Audacity?
It's a freebie and it's pretty good.
Do some searching and you'll find what you want.

They may have PC faces and they are both free.

Right, adobe audition is not a sequencer, only a wave editor and multitracker in one.. It can do midi though.

Tracktion (for free). Nice audio sequencer for free. Not too bad either. Mac or PC. Pretty stable.

cheers for the rapid replies people. haven't looked at sonar, thats the cakewalk one right. audition could be an option as I'd do all sequencing on my mpc.

Cubase SL is pretty cheap, and version 3 is out now.

I wouldnt go Sonar if I where you! The version 3 btw is also pretty darn expensive.. like 500 euros or sumthing. ..

N-Track studio is cheap.
Arturia Storm is cheap too.

yea cubase se or sl is pretty good plus no matter which one you pick you can always upgrade later to sx when you get the money. thats what i like

what version of cubase?, anyway that would be best if you need MIDI, correct me if I'm wrong but acid only supports audio loops, no MIDI. cubasis is scaled down cubase and I dunno what that free one is.
