I just repaired my old Yamaha RM1x Sequence Remixer. It is an ancient hardware MIDI sequencer. The display was faded and needed loads of time after start-up to be readable. A capacitor, worth 10 eurocents, solved the problem. I got this info from a youtube video, and only took me half an hour from uncabling to reconnect again - and everything in between.
It is good fun to keep old stuff alive, and I have some resistors and capacitors on stock at home for small repairs and building guitar fx pedals (as the kits sometimes miss stuff in it).
So, I'm a happy satisfied man again, and no I do not take repairs for others as I do not really know what I'm doing - just following the vids on youtube, like everybody can......
