Creative soundcards.

Im still in the soundcard market and was wondering if anyone has an opinion on Creative soundcards. I know they're not recording specific but the new Audigy 2 Platinum supports 24/96, MIDI, SP/DIF, RCA and digitial I/O.

The package also comes with Cubasis. Is that software any good?

I need some serious advice coz most shop assistants I talk to are just tryin to screw my cash.

If you want to record all audio on your PC, I would forget about creative and get something like an Audiophile, or a MIDIman Delta. Creative cards sound good, no denying that, but they are not designed for pro audio recording - they've always been gamers cards, and they tech support for musicans has always sucked. I seem to remember that also, while the Audigy supports 24/96 in theory, the reality is something quite different and the drivers themselves only support 48kHz digital audio. This has always been the probem with creative cards - any digital audio is recorded at 48kHz and needs to be converted to 44.1kHz before going to CD or your sampler (leading to a degredation in sound)
