Software suggestions

Basically I want something to mix beats and record vocals with.

MIDI capabilities really aren't an issue since my beats are 99% sample/ MPC-based. So, beats from my Mpc 2kXL to an M-Audio Delta 1010lt - then mixing the tracks, and recording vocals. I don't need anything too complex since my needs are pretty simple. Something like ACID doesn't really seem to give me the mixing capabilities I need, though.

I'm gonna give that Tracktion a try.

Adobe Audition isn't really what I'm looking for, I don't need all that sample editing stuff anyhow.

you might want something that sends and receives midi beat clock and mtc. tracktion doesnt have those options.

yo i need some help with this...
i installed it on my computer upstairs and it works but it wont let me export audio unless i buy it.....aka its useless now..... i thought it was FREE??

you gotta send them an email and register and they send u a key for it....there should be instructions on the page. its good software for the price so its worth doing.

That's right. If you want to track your beats in more than one pass (something you'll need to do if you want more tracks than you have inputs on your soundcard), you need to sync the MPC to the computer (or vice-versa). Then you'll be able to track anything you do on the MPC after recording the first pass, and it'll fit right in. There are ways to manually line up tracks that were recorded without sync, but this is clubersome and time-consuming.

As for DAW software, I can recommend Logic Express - I'm on Logic Pro myself and it just _works_.

Right, I'm gonna have to sync up tracks, so good looking on that.

To reiterate, I'd need something like ACID but with more focus on multi-tracking (and mixing) than looping and beat-mapping, etc. Even though something like Cubase SX would no doubt fulfill my needs I really don't need all the soft synth, rewire, in-depth MIDI stuff it has got to offer.

Logic Express only seemed to have like 12 tracks - I need more than that.
