drum vst

what are the best drum/percussion vsts that you have come accross? Is the Steinberg Groove Agent any good? I'm looking for a drum/percussion vst with good acoustic sounding drums for trip hop, underground hip hop, funk, soul, etc. And yes, I know, that the best way to get good drums is a record player, some old vinyl, and an mpc.

groove agent is cool. it makes beats for u, but u can use them as one shots. u cant import ur own sounds though which is mad gay, but battery is cool. linplug also has a few decent plugins.

how about stylusrmx by spectrasonic? groove agent is a toy compared to stylusrmx plus stylusrmx read rex(s) files. secondly, there is battery 2 which is great. battery 2, reads rex(s), wave, kontakt files. third, there is intakt reads battery, rex(s), wave and kontakt files. i have all 3 and use all of them. intakt and battery are by native instruments and they have demos. check them out. stylusrmx has videos of what stylusrum does on their website.


i never used a linplug drum machine but i do have saxlab by linplug and it is great too.

groove agent is toy. if you have a mpc you are taking a step backwards with groove agent.

i think linplug has demo also. check them all out and lets us know what your findings are. peace.

Battery is very nice. Compressors and efx on every individual sample in the latest version

i cant believe you guys left off fxpansion bfd module, i look on you guys as cave men if you all not copping this.

by far the most realistic kit made to date, it comes on 2 dvds and its very cheap for what you get, the only draw back is you looking at 8 gig worth of program

i hate when they do tht, make programs large like a prostitutes vag. taking up so much space on the hard drive.

while xl's got like 30 how much meg and can create baniing drums,
but anyways, thts the way to go with most natural realistic kit out there.

you have to have a cracking system with it, preferrably with 2 or more drives,
the program on your boot drive
samples on your sample drive
and audio recording on your storage drive.

The basic functionality of battery (I've never tried battery 2) is fairly similar to the mpc sampling engine. That is, you can layer sounds, pitch 'em and add envelopes, not to mention that the interface is great.

If you're into synthetic drums, Waldorf Attack is pretty nice too, but it's quite a lot of work to get usable sounds out of it.

it plays preset midi patterns for you, or you can use preset sounds, both of which are pretty ghey

i was makin breaks with it and the fills then sampling them and eqing and addin effects in wavelab till that shit was mad gritty like a break off wax. then chopped them up and rearranged it and programmed it how i liked it. I used it as a sample source instead of a vsti. After i was done processing it though u couldnt even tell that it wasnt off a record. So i could have a bunch of ill breakbeats to chop. But that is my style, alot of people use the one shot drum kits, so it might not appeal to them. but u can use groove agent as a sound mod with a controller and that offers a good set of kits to pick from.
