Buying Gear with store credit card's

I'm just curious to know about your thoughts about purchasing gear with a music stores credit card? My first big piece of gear was the MPC 2000XL(I bought after saving for 5 months). I've had it for 13 months. Every beat I have is a sample. I've tried hard to make keyboard beats with my Yamaha DJ II keyboard in conjunction with the MPC. It's not happening.

I'm lookin to be orginal also. Like I said, I sample all of the time. I was looking at Musiciansfriend.com and they had a Roland Fantom XA for 1395. For the Fanotm XA you have to pay $41 a month. I will be working full time this summer and so I thought about getting one of these pieces with Musiciansfriend's Store Credit Card making the monthly payments. I'm willing to work 2 jobs this summer to pay a keyboard off. Thoughts??

I would save up the cash first, then get the gear.

The problem with long credits like this one is that you increase your monthly costs and if something unexpected happens, you can get in a ****load of trouble.

other way round for me...the only thing i wont get on credit is clothes as they are usually gone before you've paid but a decent credit card with a good rating will allow you to reverse save...get the goods first and then save later...

the ad says $41 a month but for how many months? this how it works the piece cost $1395 (let say no sale tax), the interest is 25% (more than likely) and let say interest free for 6 month. if you pay it off in 6 months there are no problems at all but if you do not, well ... say you pay $41 a month, first month you pay $41 (1395 - 41 = 1354) now you owe $1354 but you need to add the interest (1354 * 1.25 = $1692.50) now you owe $1692.50. this cycle will go on for years. your best bet is to save your money and then purchase. buying things on credit will kill you.
