Some1 help my in my search for a mixer? To compliment my mpc

Well i got a mpc 2000xl w/ 1/4 outputs. I got studio monitors that accept 1/4 inputs. I have a turntable thats normal RCA outputs. So i was wondering what mixer would be best for this?? I need a mixer that i could hook my 1/4 monitors to the outputs, my 1/4 mpc to an input, and a RCA turntable to an input. Maybe i sound like an ass right now, i dont know. What mixers do you have? And how is everything connected?

You will likely have better luck in the Studio Environments section of the forum.

Just us MPC geeks hang out in the MPC forum. We know little about mixers, monitors and such.

if you have long dough look for a mackie....and for the turntable if your mixer dont have rca inputs a trip to radio shack can str8'n that right out!

i work with a different model but yea son.....no i tried to go on aim i remember i had an account...i am trying to find it again!

I'd say it all depends on (i) how much you have to spend and (ii) how you like to work.

if you want to record your MPC performance to a computer/DAT/CDR/MD then you might easily get away with using a DJ mixer alone or a compact mixer such as a Mackie 1202 or 1402 and a phono preamp (RIAA preamp). If you want to track 8 outputs from an MPC then take a look at the Mackie 1604 and put a basic DJ mixer or RIAA preamp on one of the stereo inputs. This is the kind of setup I use: you can track to an 8-track soundcard or HD recorder/tape using the direct outs. You can send audio to your sampler inputs via the Aux's and you have a great mixer to add new sampler, synths, modules, mics etc. And it's just as useful playing live - if that's your thing.

It's important to have a setup that doesn't limit your creativity; want to put a new effect in or resample something? how want's to be f*cking around with cables? Get a decent mixer.

If you also rap, or have people put lyrics on top of your beats i would suggest you get a Roland VS1680 or 1880 studio. Just buy a digital recorder that you can use it as a mixer and use to also master your beats and burn them to a CD. They sell for about the same price as the MPC new and used and they are AMAZING recorders, and great for hip hop use (you can get amazing sounding mixes with them). If you also buy an effects card for one you will have tons of effects to add to your tracks and you will have MASTER Mixdown effects that will really make a difference to your final mastered beats. Everything you got would easily hook up to it too. I dont know if you wanna drop another $1200, but you could pretty much set up a whole digital studio and mastering room with it. hit me up if you wanna hear some songs i recorded on the MPC and the 1680 with people rappin over them - listen to the quality i get out of the same basic setup that you got.

Any DJ mixer will do what you're asking to do, and if you spend a lil more green, then you can usually get a mixer that you can hook up 2 pairs of 1/4 in jacks AND 2 RCA pairs and then also have a paired RCA out and a paired 1/4 inch out. Go to any music site ( musiciansfriend.com) and search for dj mixers. You can get a cheap one if you don't plan on using it to cut/scratch. happy hunting.
