sp1200 with my 4000 sometimes. works like a charm. just load up your samples in the sp, and sequence with the 2000/xl and thats it. sounds great. i only use the sp1200 for drums. Also try resampling your sounds at 12bit/26040hz, and you should get a very similar sound to the sp1200. That is the sample rate of the sp1200. Or better yet, try 12bit/27500hz. Thats the sample rate of the sp12.

Also, a good way to make your samples sound gritty, or your drums bump harder is to record them to minidisk first. Then sample em in your mpc. And if you like, resample them at the lower bit/frequency rates above, and enjoy.

I just have them both synced via midi. First I had the SP as the master, now the MPC... I think I re-routed that because I ran out of ports somewhere. Don't know, it works both ways. Anyway, now everything is synced; MPC, SP, synths and FX...

I do almost all the drums on the SP, and use the MPC for longer samples and other stuff. Sometimes I do a whole beat on the SP only, sometimes on the MPC only, depending on what I feel like. The MPC sequences all the synths. The DJ mixer goes to both samplers (and directly to the desk), so I can choose which machine I want to sample each sound on.

This is some good info. to know...when u have the two machince's synced and u change the tempo on the mpc will it changed it on the sp as well? And what about drumming on the sp using the pads of the MPC?
