MPC 2000 & Logic Audio 6

Hi All ... i just got Logic Audio 6.0 Platinum ... Does anyone know how to sync both machines

i'm using the mpc2000xl and cubase 3.7 at the moment, both in sync. i hope it is similar to the mpc2000 and the new logic platinum.

i have the mpc defined as master and cubase is the slave. the cable goes from the "midi out" at the mpc to the "midi in" at the computer. in the midi-window in the mpc i choose "send mtc". in the sync-settings in cubase i choose "sync to mtc" and i choose the correct midi input for sync.

that's all, so i hope you know how it works. i'm at work now and i don't know the correct names of the menues in cubase and the mpc. if you don't know what i'm talking about or it doesn't work, then i can tell you how it work's exactly next week, when my logic is arriving.

p.s.: you can use logic as master and the mpc as slave too, and that would be the "official way", because in this case the part with the weakest timing (computer) is the master. this setup should hardly ever loose sync. if the computer get's slower, the mpc would get slower too and grooving drums wouldn't groove anymore, but logic and the mpc would stay in sync.

i think it's more important to have absolutely tight drums from the mpc and if there's a timing problem, only the computer is loosing sync for a moment. if the drums and bass (from the mpc) are grooving, a little timing problem of the instruments or audio (from the computer) is not a big problem. so for groove-oriented music my setup is the better solution.[/quote]

i just found the "how to have my mpc2000xl be the master in my studio" - article in this forum. it's nearly the same question as yours. read the first answer from ieism. he describes the solution very well.
