whattup everyone how you doin? well to info everyone ive been practicin on my turntables trying to get better. striving to be another girl dj in da LA area. anywayz, i need some help. i am thinking about purchasing a akai mpc system, to create music too; either house, tech house, hip hop, jungle, or drum and bass. can anyone let me know what system they think would be best for me. at this time i have dj set up with speakers, turntables, and the the pioneer djm 600 mixer. let me know what you guys think. thanx hella ---gen

MPC is a great place to start. it will teach you allot. go for the XL.

wow! as a turntablist I am amazed that the words "Girl" and "DJ" are used in sentances other then "that girl likes that dj" 
Not tryin to clown, but the female dj's are few and far between more props to you for owning decks that dont just "decorate" your living room, as 95% of the girls I know who have decks do with them.
to answer, what do you record into? a pc? vs 880? this may shape what you chose to buy. see, if you dont have a pc or some recording medium and cannot afford to get a decent one, maybe the SP 808 is 4 you. the sp-808 is a 4 track digital recorder and sampler in one. I dont care for it and find it hard to use but alot of people like them. Its nice for making remixes and stuff but not a powerful device like the MPC.
if you really plan to get into production hardcore, go grab the MPC 2000XL. get 32 mb of ram, then get the effects board and save the multi outs board until you get a mixer or a soundcard that can accomodate all that just so you dont waste yoour $$$$$$$.
