Best sound modules for HIp HOp

Just wanted to get your guys opinion on some hot sound modules. This is gonna be my first module. I plan to hook it up to my radium 49key. So far i've lookin at the Mo Phatt 'cause its geared for Hip hop but im intrested in what you guys think. So holla back!! peace

I'm in the same situation as you. i'm either going to get a trinity, triton, or motif rack....then possibly a mo phatt as a second rack. I'll most likely buy the trinity rack - because they have most of the same sounds found in the triton, and they only sell for around 500 used. i figure i can get a trinity and a mo phatt for about a grand. I have yet to play around with the motif rack, but i've only heard good things about it. And the motif is only $999 new, couple hundred less than a triton so i like the looks of that.

How do you like the Radium 49key controller? i just got an oxygen 8 (cause a lot of people said they were good controllers - and i needed one badly), and i absolutly hate it. I think the keys feel terrible, and i have a feeling it's going to break within a short period of time. How is the key feel on the Radium? Are there a lot of extra features, and how much did you pay for it?

I think you should really look into 3 major e-mu sound modules. the proteus 2000, mo phatt and the synphony module. once you get the hang of the features...filters, soundbanks and functions you'll never need nothing else. there's 8 to 12 diffrent filter types to play with, plus you can create any sound imaginable at an affordable price. for about 700 dollars new. 500 dollars used. cop one of these must haves plus a decent midi keyboard controller for under 150 bucks!!!! bam you got your music production setup. this is one of the steps i took in building my studio base at an affordable price. and oh my god the sounds thst come out these modules for so cheap a price makes you feel like your stealing. take my word cop one of these three and your music will definitely grow everyday.

80% or more of hip hop producers will have at least, but usually both of these units:

Roland JV (2080/5080)
Korg Trinity or Triton

If you want a fat bass, the SE-1 is what west coast producers get down with.

I've used a JV-1010. Good module thats isnt so hard on the pocket book.

i only touched this for a few minutes but it seemed like it only had about 20 instruments in it and the rest was variations......tell me how wrong i am....tell me some good stuff about this module!

I have both but have only used the Triton in the past 2 years not that the 2080 is not tight. I just feel that korg.

Roland JV 2080 - Is this module worth buying? A local 'music go round' by me has a used one for a pretty good price. Question for any one that has this module... are you happy with it? is it easy to use? Good sounds? I got a Trinity rack right now, but i got some extra rack space and cash for something else.

Ron - what dont you like about the 2080 that you havent used it for a few years?

If you like West Coast beats/sounds, you can't go wrong with the 2080. It is truly a classic. Listen to anything produced by Battlecat and you'll hear the sounds.
